Iceland

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Iceland. What a beautiful country rich in history, culture, and geography. We spent about a third of our time in the capital, Reykjavik, and the rest driving around the west and south of the country. It was spectacular scenery and, because of the summer season, there was light 24 hours a day so lots of great opportunities to shoot!

After the jump you will be able to see some of the landscapes (mostly) that I caught. Enjoy!

Here was an old rusted tractor hanging out next to this beautiful waterfall. Trees of this size are pretty common in Iceland as the land was deforested quite some time ago. Efforts plant new forests have not met with much success.

This is a small church on the Snaefellness Peninsula. It is often photographed and used for wedding ceremonies for its obvious charm.

This was a little place off the side of the road that offered cabins and a small golfing green. I really liked the scope of the landscape and the ominous clouds.

An old farmhouse falling, slowly, to nature.

The guardian of the mountain, Bardur Snaefellsas, now stands watch as stony monument.

Meandering cliffs cut along the seashore.

A lone farmstead crops up at the edge of the land.

A charred church of the Westmann Islands. A volcanic eruption in 1972 caused this building to smolder but not burn completely. It still stands 40 years later.

A shot of Gullfoss, a beautiful waterfall along the Golden Circle route.

I will post more of my Iceland series when I get another collection processed and ready to go. Thanks for looking!
